There is also a veterinary clinic and a wildlife rescue station where wild injured or orphaned animals are being rescued, medically treated, and nursed back to health or adulthood.

but the world will surely change for that one animal’
We aim to motivate maturing youth and adults to have a positive relationship with nature, so they will bring their knowledge home to their families and friends. Out ‘hands-on’ projects include “Makoa Kids Forest Club”, “Bush School” and training police animal units.

Animals in Makoa Farm
This is an animal haven and much of our time revolves around animals of all kind – healthy, injured and orphaned ones. Orphaned or injured wild animals spend time as an in-patient in the veterinary clinic.
Much of the farmland is devoted to conservation, bordered by two rivers, each filled with towering trees – a habitat we are committed to preserving. The birdlife is phenomenal, monkeys, small antelope and nocturnal game abound and are frequently seen and heard.
Over the past 10 years, we have been involved in the care, rehabilitation and housing of orphaned, injured, neglected, abused and abandoned wild animals, including hyena, bush pig, warthog, serval and genet cat, greater galago (bushbaby), Sykes and Vervet monkey, jackal, different antelope species and many birds of prey, etc.
In addition to twenty-two horses, it is home to a variety of farm and pet animals such as donkeys, pigs, cattle, small four-legged creatures like rabbits and guinea pigs and different kinds of poultry and fowl. Rangi Nzuri and Schroeder, the pet pigs, Willy and Tonic, the wild pigs, and many others add to giving Makoa a delightful old country feel.
Produce from our own farm and kitchen garden (the bounty of which we happily share with monkeys, duikers and a myriad of other small creatures) is used to prepare the wonderful meals on offer.
